Cheap yet reliable web host

host1

I found a few great web hosts, which are really cheap yet reliable for Professional Website Hosting. So thought to put a review about them here.

Today will discuss – Bluelemonhost

Its one of the cheapest host i had seen on web, that too with cPanel and 99.9% uptime!

I had used it personally & its really good.

Good things about it:

  • Too cheap …basic plan costs $11/yr only.

  • cPanel based panel….thus really cool to manage things.

  • Great link speeds….as per my tests – uplink – 3.5MBps and downlink – 2.8MBps (though appears to be little slow…but believe me its far better then expensive Dreamhost!)

  • Good support….always responses with “done/solved/ok” :)

  • Daily free backups with free restoration (nice!)

  • No irritating limits on number of sub domains, sql databases & users, ftp users and even mailing lists.

Bad things about it:

  • No ssh shell access (but i do accept its useless to give that in plan like $11 an year due to security reasons).

  • No wget allowed (even via cron jobs) though good way out is just using ftp commands in shell but again that’s not for home users.

  • Irritating limit- in $11 plan you can host only 1 addon domain & parked domain.

  • No great cPanels addons like website builder or templates. (though you won’t need those ever!)

I recommend it using just for personal blogs and small professional sites because of its cost, features it just provides really solid hosting for personal blogs but because of limitations i won’t recommend it for an advanced user.

thumbs-up

Cheers!

  1. Their other high end plan do have more add-ons and parked domains with advanced features, I guess business users can go for their high-end plans.

I have recently signed up with them and happy till now :)

  2. Hi Remith, i agree most of problems are solved in other high end plans but shell access and wget isn’t available for ANY shared hosting plan….but yes…its SO cheap…i won’t complain. :)

  3. Bro what about CPU Limit and Sub domains ??

  4. Hi Abhi

CPU Limit – unfortunately till now there is no standard parameter to measure cpu usage …and so my idea is – think in practical terms – “are you going to use really high cpu usage?”

like say when you are paying $5-$6/month you can expect really high usage, but referring to current host costing you $11/yr you must think if you have really heavy db with too many users accessing it, it might be an problem.

In my experience i hosted my blog which is wp script with 25MB size database and having 900+ visits everyday, all works fine.

Incase you plan to use any really complex script having db access for each task, best is to contact host to have a look on it.

    Subdomains:

    unlimited.

    hope that will help :)

  5. Nice points about cheap web hosting. Thanks for information sharing

  6. Who’s your domain registrar? Is there any good, yet cheap, registrar you want to suggest to me?

  7. hmmm….actually practically you will never find any cheap registrar becoz registrar “just” earn $1-2 on a common domain extension like .com/net/org

So you won’t see a significant difference in domain cost but you will find cheapest possible if you purchase from a company which is more in registration side like – name.com, aapkadomain.com , eNom.com rather then a company whose primary business is web hosting like – hostgator.com, dreamhost.com, bluelemonhost.com

And i DO NOT recommend the terrible control panel based GoDaddy to anyone for anything! :)

    hope that will help!

  8. Great !!! Iam gonna give it a try !!!
